The three-time Grammy Award-winning artist released her sixth album, Brat, last year to widespread critical acclaim. Following its release, Charli experienced an unprecedented rise in popularity, leading to successful arena tours, including a co-headlining run with Troye Sivan. She also took on double duty as both performer and host on Saturday Night Live, earning praise from fans for her on-screen presence and comedic timing.

In a roundtable discussion with Grammys.com, Cook shared his thoughts on whether he and Charli had discussed new material, stating: “Not truly, it’s just loose chatting about things. [For Charli] the genesis of things is really about having an idea but then being very impulsive. I think you need a certain amount of space to do that.”
Keane added: “Talking to Charli now, there’s a clear desire to do the complete opposite again, which is very much in line with her ethos. Some of the conversations we’ve had and the music we’ve been experimenting with over the past few months have been entirely different.”
