At the top of the winner’s list for 2024, Jonathan Anderson once again took Designer of the Year for his work with Loewe and JW Anderson, reinforcing his exceptional position in the field. “I love fashion,” Anderson exclaimed to our Fashion Editor at the official after party. “It makes me get out of bed every morning.”

Derry-born designer Jonathan Anderson took home the award for the second year running. Whether the ever-evolving design power Anderson holds as Creative Director at Loewe or his viral light-hearted collections at his namesake label (think SATC viral pigeon clutch), Anderson has continued to push the limits of what’s possible in fashion and has brought back a little joy and magic in the process.
Other stand-outs: British Womenswear Designer went to Simone Rocha, British Menswear to Grace Wales Bonner. Meanwhile, the awards also honoured key change‐makers: the Leader of Change Award went to Issa Rae.

This year the tone was clear: fashion is not solely about what you wear, but about what you stand for. Whether via sustainability, diversity, craft resurgence or cultural commentary, the narrative shifted sharply. The VIP gifting corridors and influencer platforms must now reflect not just aesthetic seduction but meaningful stories.

For British fashion, the 2024 ceremony asserted that London remains not only a stage but a creative engine. The industry’s heavyweights may dominate headlines, but the recognition of creators, collaborators and activists signals a broadened horizon. And for those in the gift-economy, aligning with such a horizon means tapping into deeper resonances.
In sum, the 2024 British Fashion Awards served as a masterclass in how high fashion, purpose and storytelling converge—and as an invitation for all participants in the ecosystem to step up.
