Over the weekend of Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September 2023, Radio 2 in the Park, BBC Radio 2’s flagship festival, lit up Leicester’s Victoria Park, drawing around 35,000 music lovers each day.

Rick Astley, in a flamboyant yellow suit, brought comic flair and charisma to the stage, opening with the “Superman” theme, then delivering an energetic mix of “Together Forever,” a surprising cover of the Foo Fighters’ “Everlong,” before wrapping up with his perennial crowd-pleaser, “Never Gonna Give You Up”

Kylie Minogue, the renowned superstar, concluded an extraordinary weekend filled with music and enjoyment. The Princess of Pop was met with thunderous applause, ecstatic cheers, and an electrifying atmosphere as she delighted the audience with a collection of her greatest hits, including a world premiere.

Over the course of two days, approximately 75,000 music enthusiasts gathered at Victoria Park to witness a star-studded lineup that included Tears for Fears, Soft Cell, Simply Red, and James Blunt. A unique addition for 2023 was the Radio 2 DJ stage, where presenters spun hit after hit, representing decades of radio favorites

The atmosphere at Radio 2 in the Park in Leicester was electric and delightfully communal—transforming Victoria Park into a vibrant mosaic of music lovers of every age and background. This event marked the return of Radio 2’s major live music offering since the 2019 Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park.
