Speaking to a UK newspaper, the singer explained: “I was at the Canadian version of the MTV awards because my album was in their Top 10. This was the first night I met Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry. Ed had no shoes on and was sat on a cushion on the floor with his legs crossed talking to me for ages. Then it was Perez Hilton’s after-party.”

“Katy was sat next to Perez, but all she said to me was, ‘This industry, will kill you.’ I didn’t know what to say, so I just skulked off. How weird is that? I don’t know if she was drunk or whatever, but it was odd. My one run-in with Katy Perry and she tells me I’m going to die. Wonderful
