“As a songwriter I get inspired by everything. If you said something now that I thought was quite cool, after you’d left I’d write it down on my phone! It’s just what I do when watching TV or hearing people talk on the street. That’s what we’ve always been about, Lawson, writing songs that are about real-life stuff. We were definitely keeping an eye on what was going on, because we’re all just big music fans. We were still immersed in the writing and recording aspect, and obviously that takes so long anyway that it didn’t feel like a rush to get back out there. We could’ve done things a lot quicker and rushed back, but I don’t think the end product would’ve been as good.”
